Step by Step Instructions
I will be dividing this love bomb crochet tutorial into 3 sections:
- Heart
- Top part of the bomb
- Body of the bomb
Heart
Using the red yarn, let’s start crocheting the heart of the love bomb.
1: MR, 6 SC, SL ST
2: CH, (V, SC) x3, SL ST
3: CH, (SC, V, SC) x3, SL ST
4 to 5: CH, 12 SC, SL ST, cut the yarn
Once you have finished the first half, repeat steps 1–5 to make the second half. This time, don’t cut the yarn—you will need it to connect the two halves in the next step.
6: CH, 6 SC (2nd heart), 12 SC (1st heart), 6 SC (2nd heart)
Tip: If you have leftover yarn from the first half of the heart, you can tuck it in here.
7: CH, (A, 4 SC) x4, SL ST
8: CH, (A, 3 SC) x4, SL ST
9: CH, (A, 2 SC) x4, SL ST
Add stuffing
10: 6A
Add stuffing and change the yarn color to white.
11 to 17: CH, BLO 6 SC, SL ST
Add more stuffing (if needed) and leave a long tail for sewing.
Top part of the bomb
Now, let’s work on the top part of the bomb.
1: MR, 6 SC, SL ST
2: CH, 6V, SL ST
3: CH, (SC, V) x6, SL ST
4: CH, FLO 18 SC, SL ST
5 to 8: CH, 18 SC, SL ST
9: CH, then working through the back loop of rounds 8 and 3, do 18 SC, SL ST, and leave a long tail for sewing.
Tip: You can fold the rows to make this step easier.
With the heart ready, it is time to sew it to the top part of the bomb. Don’t worry if any white yarn shows at the back—it will soon be hidden when we attach it to the body.
Body of the bomb
The body is a large ball-shaped piece. We will make 9 increases, crochet evenly for 8 rows, and then do 9 decreases to complete the shape.
1: MR, 6 SC, SL ST
2: CH, 6V, SL ST
3: CH, (SC, V) x6, SL ST
4: CH, (SC, V, SC) x6, SL ST
5: CH, (3 SC, V) x6, SL ST
6: CH, (2 SC, V, 2 SC) x6, SL ST
7: CH, (5 SC, V) x6, SL ST
8: CH, (3 SC, V, 3 SC) x6, SL ST
9: CH, (7 SC, V) x6, SL ST
10: CH, (4 SC, V, 4 SC) x6, SL ST
11 to 18: CH, 60 SC, SL ST
19: CH, (4 SC, A, 4 SC) x6, SL ST
20: CH, (7 SC, A) x6, SL ST
21: CH, (3 SC, A, 3 SC) x6, SL ST
22: CH, (5 SC, A) x6, SL ST
23: CH, (2 SC, A, 2 SC) x6, SL ST
As you progress, add stuffing to maintain the shape and give your bomb a nice, plush feel.
24: CH, (3 SC, A) x6, SL ST
25: CH, (SC, A, SC) x6, SL ST
26: CH, (SC, A) x6, SL ST
27: 6A, SL ST
Cut the yarn and assemble all the parts.
You can sew the parts together using the long tails or glue them for a sturdier Love Bomb
And Tada – You have just made a cute crochet bomb! 🎉
