Step by Step Instructions
I will be dividing this mini flower basket crochet tutorial into 5 sections:
- Basket
- Rose
- Rose Bud
- Assembling the Rose and Rose Bud
- Putting It All Together
Basket
Let’s begin by crocheting the basket. I am using a nice beige color for this, but feel free to choose whatever color suits your style.
1: Magic ring, 8 SC, SL ST
2: CH, 8 V, SL ST
3: CH, (SC, V)x 8, SL ST
4: CH, (SC, V, SC)x 8, SL ST
5: CH, (3 SC, V)x 8, SL ST
6: CH, 40 DC, SL ST
7 to 10: 2CH, 40 DC FLO, SL ST
11: CH, (3 SC, A)x 8, SL ST
12: 40 SL ST
Now, there’s no need to cut the yarn—simply continue crocheting the basket handle.
1: 20 CH, SL ST to the other side
2: flip, 19 SC, SL ST
Rose
For the rose, I am using 2 different shades of red to create some variation, but you can choose your own colors to make it uniquely yours.
1: 23 CH
2: go back 4 chains, (3 DC, SC, K) —repeat until the end of the chain
3: (2 CH, DC, FV, DC, 2 CH, SL ST) —repeat until the end of the chain
Rose Bud
Next, for the rose bud, I am using 2 different shades of green to match the red colors.
1: MR, 6 HDC, SL ST
2: 6 CH, go back 2 chain, SL ST, SC, HDC, 2 DC, SL ST
(6 CH, go back 2 chain, SL ST, SC, HDC, 2 DC, SL ST) x5 and leave long tail for stem.
Repeat this process for a total of 5 roses and 5 rose buds.
Assembling the Rose and Rose Bud
Now that we have the individual pieces, let’s combine the rose and rose bud together.
Start by cutting the flower stems to your desired length. I always use the height of the basket as a guide. Here’s a quick video to show you how I easily cut these flower stems.
Once the stems, roses, and rose buds are ready, ensure that your glue gun is turned on, and we are ready to assemble the flowers. Check out this video to see exactly how I glue them together to create a beautiful crochet mini rose.
As a rule of thumb, I always pair a lighter color with a darker one to make the colors pop. In this case, my dark red rose is paired with a lighter rose bud, and vice versa.
Putting It All Together
Finally, after prepping all the roses, it is time for the flower arrangement! Arrange them into the mini basket and you will have your very own pretty crochet flower basket.
