If you missed the first month, catch up here: My First Month Blogging and Learnings
A quick introduction: I am Jaslyn, but my friends call me Qian. I started this blog to share my self-employment journey – the highs, lows, learnings, and experiences that I gained over the past few years. My vision for the blog is to inspire like-minded individuals like yourself to pursue their dream life.
This blog series serves a dual purpose: to inspire and provide insights into
- The practicalities of managing a blog
- The potential income from blogging
Through my story, I hope that you can learn a few things and reach your goals faster. As I mentioned in the previous post, my approach revolves around trying and testing; there’s no one-size-fits-all method.

Top Blog Posts with High Pageviews:
- How to plan 2024 to make it your best year yet?
- What to do if Etsy Suspended Your Shop with No Email?
- A Personal Exploration of Art Materials for Beginner Artists
What stands out is that the last two posts, both published last month, dominate the charts. It suggests an interest in the topics – ‘Planning’ and ‘Etsy Suspension.’ Upon deeper dive, the surge in page views for ‘How to Plan 2024 to Make It Your Best Year Yet?’ is attributed to increased visibility on Twitter.
How about looking from another perspective?
Top Blog Posts with High Engagement:
- For Etsy Shop Owners: The Art of Analysing Etsy Stats
- Perspective Drawing Mastery: From Novice to Pro
- Understanding Colour Theory & The Colour Wheel Simplified for Beginners
What’s interesting is that all these posts were published in November. This could indicate that the algorithm takes some time to rank in both Pinterest and Google. Another observation is that the ‘Arts & Crafts’ posts are really popular.
In summary, the Top 3 Best-Performing Blog Posts are:
- A Personal Exploration of Art Materials for Beginner Artists
- Perspective Drawing Mastery: From Novice to Pro
- What to do if Etsy Suspended Your Shop with No Email?
Why? These posts have more than 3 views and more than 1 views per user. This is a better reflection of reality.
Now, let’s see where our readers are coming from.
Compared to the previous month:
- Users from Pinterest, Twitter, and Google organic traffic have increased.
- Users from Twitter are more engaged (+20% vs Nov).
- Users from Google are more engaged (+5% vs Nov).
This is promising, indicating that Google and Pinterest are gradually ranking the blog posts, affirming the fruits of SEO efforts.
And, where are they from?
The majority of users originate from the United States, with Singapore and Thailand following closely. The prevalence of U.S. users aligns with the popularity of Pinterest and Twitter in the country. The presence of Singapore users is logical as it corresponds to my geographical location.
Thailand, however, piques my curiosity. Despite a total of 15 views, there is a high engagement rate of 71%. To delve deeper into this, I will conduct a thorough analysis to identify the specific blog posts that garnered such heightened interest from the Thai audience.
Pinterest Performance
My Pinterest currently sits at 14.1k monthly views, showcasing notable improvements compared to the previous month. HU HA HU.
Looking at the top-performing pins for the month, a consistent trend emerges: topics related to the arts consistently dominate the charts.
Twitter Performance
In the span of just one month on Twitter, my posts garnered 2.4k impressions with an average engagement rate of 4.0%. This is a great start, given the relatively short duration of my presence on Twitter.
Let’s see how the blog is ranking this month…
- Total Clicks: Increased by 2 compared to November
- Total Impressions: A remarkable surge of 87% compared to November
- Average CTR: Up by 7.1% compared to November
- Average Position: 7.9 (a slight improvement of -0.2 compared to November)
These metrics signal positive news, indicating that Google is actively ranking the blog. This is evident in the increase in total impressions. A 7.1% clickthrough rate also further reinforces that the chosen content resonates well with my audience.
