- Get accepted into Google Adsense – FAILED
Commitment Schedule
Now, let’s talk about my commitment schedule for January:
- 2 Blog Posts per Week
- 3 Tweets Every Day
- 3 Pinterest Pins Every Day
- Start a Facebook Page and Post Daily
Additionally, in mid-January, I took the leap and opened both an Instagram and TikTok account.
Results + Insights
Let’s dive into the outcomes and reflections on the work completed during January:
Actual Work Done:
- 8 New Blog Posts
- 157 Tweets (down compared to December)
- 115 Pins (also down compared to December)
- 32 Facebook Posts + Reels
- 35 Instagram Posts + Reels
- 20 TikTok Videos
Here are the 8 blog posts crafted during the month of January:
Business | 1) My Second Month of Blogging and What I Learned 2) Where can I sell digital products aside from Etsy? 3) 6 Tools I Used in My Day-to-Day as an Entrepreneur |

Arts & Crafts | 1) Learn How to Shade Anything with These 7 Fundamentals |
So, you might have noticed, I stepped up my content for business and analytics. But why the sudden change? In the past, I found that posts about arts, Etsy, and planning stuff got more attention. But now I am also hanging out on TikTok and Instagram where my audience might be into different things.
Initially, most of my efforts were primarily on Twitter and Pinterest, where artsy stuff triumphs. But with TikTok and Instagram in the mix, I anticipate a shift in audience interests, paving the way for increased traction in the business and analytics area.
Furthermore, a practical consideration to produce more business and analytics content is the potential for higher passive income once my blog is approved for Google Adsense. A niche focusing on “business & analytics” is likely to yield greater revenue compared to an “arts & crafts” niche.
By adapting and diversifying content strategies, I aim to both engage with evolving audience interests and optimise revenue streams in the long term.
Google Analytics
Let’s dig into the website traffic and see what’s been happening.
Blog Pageviews:
Overall, the number of views on our blog pages has shot up by 2.44 times compared to last month, which is pretty good. Plus, once people land on the site, they are checking out twice as many pages. Although the engagement rate has dipped a bit, that makes total sense. Basically, with more views, we are naturally going to have more sessions. And since readers are checking out more pages each time they visit, this is not really something to worry about.
High-Performing Blog Posts:
So, let’s see which blog posts are knocking it out of the park.
Based on views per user, the top 5 blog posts are…
And based on views, here are the top 5 performers…
Now, here is the interesting part: The only blog post that shows up on both lists is “4 Easy & Proven Steps to Set Up GA4 on WordPress Blog.” What is cool is that this post isn’t about art, Etsy, or planning – it’s all about business and analytics. This might just back up my hunch that business and analytics are hot topics, especially on Instagram, TikTok, or even in Google searches. But, we will need more evidence to confirm that.
Also, it seems like readers are really into the business and analytics posts. They are coming back to read them more than once, which tells us they are pretty engaged with that content.
Traffic Sources:
Now, let’s see where our readers are coming from.
Looking at the numbers, it seems like most of our traffic is coming from Instagram and Twitter, and they are really engaged too, with a rate of 60% or more. So, our Instagram and Twitter game seems to be on point.
And hey, organic traffic from Google has doubled since last month! It is still just single digits, but it’s a sign that our blog posts might be starting to rank in search results.
Country Demographics:
This month, we have had some interesting changes in where our readers are from.
Singapore is still up there in the top 3, but now Indonesia and the Philippines have taken the lead, whereas before it was the United States and Thailand. It is interesting to see that readers from Indonesia are really into our “4 Easy & Proven Steps to Set Up GA4 on WordPress Blog” post, while readers from the Philippines are hitting up our landing page before diving into articles like “How to create your own consumer research survey?” and “What metrics should you track for your Ecommerce website?” Once again, it looks like the business and analytics stuff is grabbing attention.
Even though I posted fewer pins this month, we have seen some significant improvements compared to December across these 3 key metrics:
- Engagements: More than doubled compared to December.
- Outbound Clicks: Doubled compared to December.
- Engaged Audience: Tripled compared to December.
So, even though I scaled back on the number of pins, focusing on quality rather than quantity seems to have paid off big time.
In our second month on Twitter, our average engagement rate has actually increased compared to the previous month. Looks like we are gaining some traction here!
Facebook + Instagram + Tiktok
Since I have just started using these three platforms this month, I will hold off on the analysis until next month. That way, I can give you a more accurate comparison and some insights.
Search Console
Here’s what we are seeing in the Search Console:
- Total Clicks: Increased by 1 compared to December.
- Total Impressions: Up by 39% compared to December.
- Average CTR: Increased by 0.6% compared to December.
- Average Position: Sitting at 7.5, which is a slight drop of 0.4 compared to November.
Now, even though our average position has dipped a bit, it’s clear that Google is starting to show our blog posts to more people, as indicated by the rise in total impressions (that purple line on the charts). Plus, while our average position may have dropped slightly, we’re still appearing higher overall (that orange line). Remember, organic traffic is all about playing the numbers game – the more exposure we get, the better chance we have of people clicking through to our blog.
Learnings for January
Here’s what we have picked up on.
What we see… | Insights |
– Our previous learning about Etsy and art-related posts mainly applies to Twitter and Pinterest. – “Business & Analytics” posts are starting to get noticed more. Readers from Indonesia and the Philippines are particularly interested in “Business & Analytics” content. | Different social media platforms have different preferences, so we can tailor our content accordingly: 1) Post art and Etsy content on Twitter and Pinterest. 2) Share business and analytics content on Instagram. |
– Our demographics have shifted from the United States and Thailand to Indonesia and the Philippines. – It seems that while the US and Thailand prefer arts and Etsy content, Indonesia and the Philippines lean more towards business and analytics. | When it comes to running paid ads, we will keep these insights in mind to target more efficiently and achieve a higher Return on Ad Spend (ROAS). |
What’s new for February?
I have been brainstorming ways to keep this blog series fresh and engaging for you. Here’s what you can expect in February:
- Instead of sticking to the same structured format, I will be focusing on more interesting and new insights to keep things dynamic.
- I will also be focusing a lot on analysing the social media performance across all 5 platforms I am using.
If there are specific topics you would like me to cover in this series, don’t hesitate to reach out on any of my social media channels and let me know.
See you next month!
Love, Jaslyn
