Step by Step Instructions

We will be starting from the very tip of the witch hat using orange yarn. Here’s how to create your own Halloween crochet hat from scratch.

19: CH, 3 (5 SC, V), SL ST

20: CH, 21 SC, SL ST

27: CH, 6 (4 SC, V), SL ST

28: CH, 36 SC, SL ST

29: CH, 6 (5 SC, V), SL ST

30: CH, 42 SC

Part 2: Begin the Brim

Time to change things up! You can either carry on with the new colour or cut the yarn and reattach. Personally, I like cutting and starting fresh. It gives a neater finish.

31: CH, 6 (6 SC, V), SL ST

32: CH, 48 SC, SL ST

33: CH, 6 (7 SC, V), SL ST

34: CH, 27 (SC, V), SL ST

Part 3: Add Final Color & Flare

We will switch colours again here. Same thing applies, cut and reattach if you like it neat!

35: CH, 40 (SC, V), SC, SL ST

36 to 38: CH, 121 SC, SL ST

And voilà! Your crochet witch hat is complete! 🧙‍♀️

Final Touches & Styling Ideas

You can totally switch up the colours depending on your Halloween aesthetic: go classic with black and orange or spooky chic with purples and greens.

If you want to turn your crochet Halloween witch hat into a fun accessory?, simply add a bobby pin or hair clip at the bottom and you’ve got a handmade hat for trick-or-treating or Halloween parties. It is also perfect as a desk or shelf decoration, because why should kids have all the fun? 😉
