Here’s what you will need to crochet this pencil keychain:

  • Cotton Crochet Yarn (color used: black, beige, blue, white, yellow)
  • Crochet Kit (3.0 mm Hook + Yarn Needle + Yarn Snips + Stitch Markers)
  • Stuffings

Step by Step Instructions

We will break this crochet pencil pattern down into 5 parts: Lead, Wood, Body, Ferrule, and Eraser.

Lead

Let’s start with the pencil tip using black yarn.

Easy crochet pencil keychain

1: MR, 6 SC, SL ST

2: CH, (SC, V) x3, SL ST

3: CH, (SC, V, SC) x3, SL ST

4: CH, (3 SC, V) x3, SL ST

Wood

Now, change to beige yarn to shape the wood part of the pencil.

6: CH, (5 SC, V) x3, SL ST

7: CH, (3 SC, V, 3 SC) x3, SL ST

8: CH, (7 SC, V) x3, SL ST

9: CH, (4 SC, V, 4 SC) x3, SL ST

10: CH, (9 SC, V) x3, SL ST

11: CH, (5 SC, V, 5 SC) x3, SL ST

Now, let’s blend into the pencil’s body using both beige and blue yarn. I have bolded the blue parts.

This completes the wooden tip of the pencil.

Body

Next, let’s crochet the body of the pencil! You can use yellow (or any colour you like) for the pencil body.

Feel free to swap the yarn for a custom colour combo! This is the best part of any crochet project (to make it your own)!

Ferrule

Now for the ferrule (the shiny metal part before the eraser).

Eraser

Finally, let’s finish it off with the eraser. Switch to pink or any fun colour!
