Step by Step Instructions
I have divided this pencil topper crochet tutorial into 4 parts:
- Rose
- Bud
- Pencil topper
- Assembling it together
Rose
This part forms the petals of your flower pencil topper.

1: 35 CH
2: Go back 3 chains, [(3 DC), SC, K] x11
3: [ 2 CH, DC, FV, DC, (2 CH, SL ST)] x11
This will give you a curly strip that looks like petals!
Bud
Now we will crochet the bud which sits under the rose.

1: MR, 10 SC, SL ST
2: BLO 10 SC
3: 6 CH, go back 2, (SL ST, SC, HDC, 2 DC, K , SL ST) x5
This adds a nice leafy texture to your crochet flower pencil topper.
Pencil Topper
Next, we crochet the tube that fits onto the pencil. We will work this directly onto the bud from Row 2.

1: Working in FLO of Row 2 of the bud: 4 SC, A, 4 SC
2 to 11: 9 SC
This forms the base of your crochet pen topper that fits snugly onto the pencil.
Assembling It Together
Time to bring all the pieces together!
Take your rose strip and gently roll it into shape as you apply glue with a hot glue gun. The rose should hold its curled shape once set.

Glue the bottom of the rose and attach it to the top of the bud.

Let it dry for a few minutes, and you are done! Now you have a rose pencil topper that is handmade and functional.
