Looking for something crafty and hands-on to do when you gather with friends that is affordable, fun, and easy to explore together? Crafting with friends is honestly one of my favorite ways to hang out because you get to chat, laugh, snack, and create something cute at the same time.
So if you have been searching for fun DIY crafts to do with friends, or just want some crafty things to do with your friends for your next catch-up, I have put together a list of seven really fun ideas you can make together without needing a ton of prep or skills.
1: Punch Needling
Let’s start with Punch Needling because it is such a fun craft idea. It involves yarn, textures, and super cute designs. You can go small and make a coaster, or go big and create wall art. In this YouTube video, I made a slightly larger coaster for my hair dryer, and it was honestly so relaxing to work on.
The materials are easy to source since most come in a kit, and I have found some adorable options below:
2: Shrink Plastic Keychain
Next up, Shrink Plastic Keychains are such a fun one because you get to design and color your own keychain, and then the magic happens when it shrinks. The video tutorial shows a super big design, but you can totally go smaller.
You can get pre-drawn kits, but I prefer blank sheets because then you can go wild with ideas. I included both options below:
3: Polymer Clay
Polymer Clay is another really fun craft to do with friends because you can make pretty much anything — earrings, keychains, charms, bag accessories, and matching theme sets. You can really go wild with the creativity.
It is also quick to set up, and one kit has enough materials to share around.
4: Perler Beads
Now this one is a nostalgic throwback! Perler Beads were my childhood favorite, and they are even more fun when you can get glow-in-the-dark ones. You can make tiny designs, big ones, and then turn them into keychains, phone charms, or bag decorations.
Get kits that come with pegboards and ironing paper, so it is super easy to set up for a craft day.
5: Paracord Keychain
Paracord Keychains are a really interesting one because you can make so many trending things like tumbler handles, bag charms, and phone straps.
If you have a larger group of friends or want to make multiples, you can get a full kit, or buy pieces individually. And if you want a zero-cost version, you can even use the shoelaces you already have at home.
6: Make Your Own Slime
Making your own slime is such a fun hands-on craft to do with friends. It feels like baking and makes a good stress relief activity. It might get a little messy, but it is totally worth it.
Just like the video tutorial, you can make slime with ingredients most people already have at home, but if not, slime kits make it super handy too. I picked two really cute & popular themes for you: mermaid and galaxy.
7: Lino Stamps
And finally, Lino Stamps are such a cute stationery-style craft. You get to carve and create your own stamp designs and then use them for journaling or labeling. It is perfect for themed crafting sessions.
Also, this activity is super easy to set up with ready-made kits you can purchase online. Get those that come with the roller, so it is easy to apply the inks.
