How to Make Poker Chips Perler Bead Pattern

Poker Chips Perler Bead Pattern

I came up with this poker chips perler bead pattern because of a very specific problem. My brother basically stole my poker chip set.

He plays mahjong every week and somehow decided my poker chips now belong to him. So instead of fighting for them back, I had a better idea. I would replace them with Perler bead poker chips and prank him instead.

Honestly, the idea sounded too funny not to try. Plus, this project turned out to be a really fun craft.

If you enjoy cute crafts or experimenting with circle Perler bead patterns, this tutorial will be perfect for you. These poker chips perler beads pattern designs are simple, customizable, and surprisingly satisfying to make.

Materials Needed

Before we get started, here are the materials that you will need to prepare:

01 Perler Beads

SHOP NOW

First, you will need to prepare your perler beads. You can use what you already have on hand and customize the colors accordingly.

Personally, I love glow-in-the-dark perler beads, so you will see a lot of that in this project. I recommend getting a bucket like this so you have multiple colors to choose from when working on the gummy bears.

02 Square Pegboards

SHOP NOW

I am using a 29 x 29 square pegboard for this project. However, I recommend buying a full set if you do not have one yet. A full set gives you more flexibility to create different perler beads designs and other patterns.

03 Ironing Paper

SHOP NOW

Additionally, you need to prepare your ironing paper to melt the beads.

You do not need to buy a lot because one piece can last quite a long time. If you already have baking paper at home, you can use it as a substitute.

Another option is to use textured ironing paper. When you melt your gummy bear fuse beads, the final result will follow the texture of the paper, which adds a unique finish.

SHOP NOW

04 Iron

SHOP NOW

Lastly, prepare an iron.

You can invest in a mini iron just for your perler bead projects. I like using a small one because I usually work on smaller designs like this gummy bear perler bead pattern, and it fits perfectly.

However, if you prefer bigger projects and already have an iron at home, that will work too.

CREATE A PATTERN

Step-by-Step Instructions

Now that everything is ready, let’s get started.

For this tutorial, I will divide the process into three sections:

  1. Pixel Art Pattern
  2. Doing the Craft
  3. Ironing

This method makes the poker chips perler bead pattern easier to follow, especially if you are new to making circle Perler bead patterns.

1: Pixel Art Pattern

To begin, this is the pixel art pattern that I follow for this project. You can take a screenshot and use it as a reference while working offline.

There are 7 of them in total: 1, 2, 5, 10, 20, 50, and 100.

For this design, I use a monochrome color palette, black for the numbers, and use a glow-in-the-dark pink to fill the inside. Feel free to switch up the colors based on how you want your poker chips to look.

2: Doing the Craft

Next, start placing your beads.

Poker chip perler

Personally, I like to complete the outline and small details first. For this poker chips perler beads pattern, I started with the outer outline and then worked my way inward with the second and third colors.

After that, I added the number and finished by filling in the remaining spaces.

This method keeps the design neat and also makes it easier to follow the circle Perler bead patterns.

All the poker chips follow the same pattern. The only difference is the color combinations and numbers. Because of that, I usually make several Perler bead poker chips at the same time. Doing them in batches makes the whole crafting process much more time-efficient.

3: Ironing

Finally, let’s move on to ironing. When ironing fuse beads, patience is key.

First, place your ironing paper over the pegboard.

Then start ironing gently. Move the iron slowly and evenly across the surface. Your goal is to melt the beads just enough so they fuse together.

Once you see the beads starting to melt and stick, carefully remove the design from the pegboard. This step helps prevent you from accidentally melting the pegboard itself.

After removing it, you can apply a little more pressure and continue ironing to achieve your preferred finish.

Some crafters prefer a thicker look, while others prefer a smooth finish with no holes. If you want the smooth style, simply continue ironing until the holes disappear.

After ironing, I like to place the design under something flat to help keep the poker chip perler pieces nice and flat.

Final Result

Here is the final result.

Circle perler bead patterns

As you can see, this poker chips perler bead pattern is simple and very customizable.

You can easily turn these Perler bead poker chips into keychains, magnets, decorations, or even small handmade gifts. They would be especially fun for someone who enjoys casino games or unique, cute crafts.

And of course, you can also use them to prank your brother when he steals your poker chips.
