Learn how to make a crochet heart keychain.

This amigurumi heart pattern was inspired by my love for Jellycat, and it has been one of my favourite makes so far. If you are a Jellycat fan or want to make a DIY crochet gift for someone who is, this is the one. It is fast, beginner-friendly, and incredibly cute.
Not only is it perfect for Valentine’s Day, but it works for any gifting occasion, as long as the person on the receiving end loves amigurumi or anything Jellycat. In this post, I will share the full written pattern so you can make as many crochet heart keychains as you need.

Step-by-Step Instructions
I will be dividing this red crochet heart keychain into 3 sections:
- Heart
- Legs
- Put It Together
1: Heart

First, make one side of the heart.
1: MR, 6 SC, SL ST
2: CH, 6 V, SL ST
3: CH, 6 (SC, V), SL ST
4: CH, 18 SC, SL ST
5: CH, 6 (SC, V, SC), SL ST
6 to 7: CH, 24 SC, SL ST
Cut off the yarn and repeat Rows 1 to 7 for the second side.

For the second piece, do not cut off the yarn. Continue directly to Row 8.

8: CH, 48 SC, SL ST
(this is where you crochet both pieces together)

9 to 11: CH, 48 SC, SL ST
12: CH, 22 SC, A, 22 SC, A, SL ST
13: CH, 46 SC, SL ST
14: CH, 22 SC, A, 22 SC, A, SL ST
15: CH, 6 (5 SC, A), A, SL ST
16: CH, 6 (2 SC, A, 2 SC), SC, SL ST
17: CH, 6 (3 SC, A), SC, SL ST
18: CH, 6 (SC, A, SC), SC, SL ST
Add stuffings.
19: CH, 6 (SC, A), SL ST
20: CH, 6 A, SL ST
A quick note on Rows 12 and 14: you can adjust the placement of the decrease depending on where you attached the two heart pieces together. The decrease should land at the connecting point.
2: Legs
Next, make the legs. You will need to make 2.

1: MR, 6 SC, SL ST
2: CH, 6 V, SL ST
3 to 4: CH, 12 SC, SL ST
5: CH, 6 A, SL ST
6 to 8: CH, 6 SC, SL ST
3: Putting It Together
Step 1: Sew the legs to the heart.
I placed mine in the middle of the heart base, which I think makes it look extra cute. You can adjust the placement to whatever feels right to you.

Step 2: Sew the mouth and glue the eyes.
I intentionally placed the mouth slightly slanted for that signature Jellycat charm. For the eyes, I like them placed far apart for a wide, expressive look. Play around with the positioning until you love it.

And there you have it! Your very own DIY crochet heart keychain, Jellycat-inspired and made with love.
