Step-by-Step Instructions

Next, I will walk you through the process step by step. I have divided this crochet pretzel pattern into three sections:

  1. Legs
  2. Pretzel
  3. Putting It Together

1: Legs

First, you will need to make two legs.

3: CH, 4 SC, TA, 3 FA, TA, 2 SC, SL ST

4: CH, 3 SC, TA, (3 DC), TA, SC, SL ST

5 to 7: CH, 7 SC, SL ST

After that, sew it closed. Leave a long tail for sewing.

2: Pretzel

Next, move on to the main part of this crochet pretzel jellycat design. This section is straightforward, but it can feel a bit tedious since it has many rows.

A helpful tip: use stitch markers to track your rows so you don’t have to recount every time.

91: CH, 7 SC, SL ST

92: CH, 3 SC, A, 2 SC, SL ST

93 to 100: CH, 6 SC, SL ST

Finally, sew it closed.

3: Putting It Together

Lastly, let’s assemble everything.

First, sew the legs onto the pretzel. Don’t cut off the excess yarn, just hide it inside the legs and pretzel.

Then, sew the mouth and glue the eyes into place.

After that, glue the ends of the pretzel to form the classic pretzel shape. Work one side at a time for better control.

Crochet keychain

If you want it to extra secure, you can also crochet in the middle where the breadsticks touch.

And there you have it!

Extra Tips

If you want to make this a crochet amigurumi, you can leave it as it is.

However, if you want to turn it into a crochet pretzel keychain, simply attach a metal keychain. Alternatively, you can crochet a chain strap and secure it to one side of the pretzel.

This post is all about how to crochet a pretzel.
