Learn to crochet a taiyaki keychain.
Lately, I have been having so much fun turning nostalgic snacks into crochet projects, and this crochet taiyaki keychain might be my favorite one yet.
By now, you should know I love small crochet projects. I can always finish them in one sitting, and they turn out absolutely adorable. Not to mention, they also make great handmade gifts if you need something last minute.
In this post, I am sharing how I crochet this mini taiyaki keychain with the biscuit look instead of the classic one, for a fun twist on the usual amigurumi taiyaki pattern.

Materials Needed
To make this taiyaki fish crochet pattern, you will need the following.
- Cotton Crochet Yarn
- Crochet Kit (3.0 mm Hook + Yarn Needle + Yarn Snips + Stitch Markers)
- Glue Gun

Step-by-Step Instructions
I will be dividing this mini crochet taiyaki pattern into three steps.
Step 1: Make the taiyaki
To start, follow this pattern to make three taiyaki pieces. Use the same color for two of them, and a different color for the third, which will be the cream inside.
1: MR, 12 DC, SL ST
2: CH, 2 V, (SC, SL ST), (SL ST, CH, SC), 3 V, (SC, SL ST, 3 CH), FV, (FV, 3 CH), (SL ST, CH, SC), V
After that, leave a long tail and sew it closed. Hide the extra yarn behind the piece.
Step 2: Sew the patterns
Next, using a different color yarn, sew the patterns onto the fish. This is what gives your taiyaki fish crochet pattern its signature waffle texture.
Step 3: Put It Together
Finally, using a glue gun, glue the middle of each taiyaki piece and glue them together. Make sure the patterned side faces outwards.
