Learn to crochet a candy pattern.

The swirls in this design are so adorable and remind me so much of the festive season. If you love the swiss roll cake, you are going to love this variation of it. This one is extremely beginner-friendly and quick to work up.
In this post, I am sharing step-by-step instructions on how you can create a swiss roll inspired crochet candy pattern. It is great as a decor piece or even as an add-on for Valentine’s Day and Christmas time.

Step-by-Step Instructions
To make things easy, I am dividing this swiss roll crochet candy into 4 simple steps.
Step 1: Wrapper
First, let’s work the two sides of the candy where we twist the wrapper.

Using the colored yarn, do MR, 3 CH, 9 TR, SL ST. Cut the yarn.
Next, use the white yarn and work on the second row. Do 9 (2 CH, SC), SL ST. Cut the yarn and hide all excess ends.
Repeat this to make 2 pieces, one for each side of the candy.
Step 2: Make the Roll
Now, let’s work on the roll itself. This part is super easy if you have already done the swiss roll cake pattern before.

Do 35 CH, go back 3 chains, then work 33 DC. After that, tie a simple double knot using both long tails before hiding the yarn at the back side.
Repeat the same using the second color yarn.
Step 3: Swiss Roll Shape
To get the classic swiss roll shape, glue the back side of both rolls together using your glue gun.
Note: align the correct ends before gluing. You can use clips to hold everything in place first to make the gluing easier.

Once the two rolls are secured together, find the end with the double knot. That is where you will start rolling. As you roll, apply glue and press to secure it in place. Continue rolling and gluing until you reach the other end.

Step 4: Candy
Finally, to complete the candy shape, attach the wrappers at both ends by gluing them on securely.

You can always change up the colors based on your preference. I rolled mine so that the colored yarn sits on the outside, but you can switch it up if you like. This pattern also looks wonderful with rainbow yarn. For a festive season version, swap in your favorite festive colors, and it will be perfect for gifting or decorating.

And that is it! I hope you enjoy making this one.
