Step by Step Instructions
I will be dividing this crochet mushroom bag pattern into 4 sections:
- Mushroom Cap
- Mushroom Stem
- Dots
- Putting It Together
1: Mushroom Cap
To start, let us work on the mushroom cap first. Grab the red yarn.

1: MR, 12 DC, SL ST
2: 2 CH, 6 (DC, FV), SL ST
3: 2 CH, 18 DC, SL ST
4: 2 CH, 6 (2 DC, FV), SL ST
5: 2 CH, 6 (3 DC, FV), SL ST
6: 2 CH, 30 DC, SL ST
Cut the long tail and hide the yarn on the inside of the mushroom cap.
2: Mushroom Stem
Next, let us move on to the stem portion. This is essentially the mini bag part where you will store your items.

1: 12 CH, go back 2 chains, 10 SC, W, 9 SC, V, SL ST
2: CH, V, 9 SC, 3 V, 9 SC, 2 V, SL ST
3: 2 CH, BLO 30 DC, SL ST
4 to 9: 2 CH, 30 DC, SL ST
10: 30 SL ST

Without cutting the string, do 70 CH and attach it to the other end using a slip stitch.
Hide the remaining yarn on the inside of the mushroom stem.
3: Dots
Now, let us work on the details that will go on the mushroom cap. Pick any of these 3 options and make a total of 5 dots, or more if you like.

Option 1 – MR, 8 SC
Option 2 – MR, 8 DC
Option 3 – MR, 10 SC
Glue the extra yarn tails to the back of the dots and cut away any excess yarn.

4: Putting It Together
Finally, it is time to grab the glue gun and assemble the mushroom pouch.
Step 1: Glue the dots onto the mushroom cap

What I like to do is stagger the dots so they mirror a real mushroom you would find in the woods.
Step 2: Pull the stem through the cap

Use the hook as a tool and go through the middle of the mushroom cap to pull the mushroom stem through.

Once it is pulled through, use your hands to pull the rest of it out and adjust the mushroom pouch to your liking.
And there you have it, your very own crochet mushroom pouch.
